I recently noticed that my kids are outgrowing their old toy kitchen set quicker than I thought they would. That means they will need a new one pretty soon.
So, I went ahead and started searching around for a new kitchen that will last them for a few years.
There are plenty of kitchens for kids available to choose online. So many, in fact, it was hard for me to whittle them down to just a few, but the ones I’ve listed here really stood out and had a lot of positive reviews.
To help with your own research I’ve listed them based on their size – you won’t be disappointed with any of these.

This modern-looking kids toy kitchen is the most popular option for children aged three to twelve years—and is easily my favorite one on the entire list. It is a sturdy wooden structure that comes in a beautiful “Espresso” brown color with gray “stainless steel” colored appliances.
It is a larger sized kitchen set that is approximately three feet tall, three and a half feet long and almost three feet wide. That means it can easily accommodate multiple children playing together. Plus, its sleek corner design keeps it from taking up too much space.

- Stove-top burners that light-up and make sizzling sounds
- A microwave above the sink
- An oven with removable shelf and knobs that make clicking sounds when turned
- A washing machine
- A refrigerator that has a removable shelf inside and a large “freezer” below
- An ice maker on the refrigerator door that lights up and makes noise
- A cordless telephone
- And tons of storage space!
Dishes, cookware and play food are not included with this particular set, so you will need to buy some separately. The other thing to keep in mind when considering this toy kitchen is that it will take a few hours to assemble. It is definitely worth the time invested once assembly is completed.
Something to note with the KidKraft kitchens is that the oven door is hinged on the side, not the bottom. This does have an advantage in that it doesn’t fall open, but can be a surprise if you are expecting a bottom hinged oven door.
Step2 Grand Walk-in Kitchen and Grill
This walk-in kitchen and grill offered by Step2 is another spacious choice. It is bigger than the corner option from KidKraft at roughly four feet tall, three feet wide and over four feet long. That means several kids aged two to eight years can play together rather comfortably.
The durable plastic used for its construction is what makes this one of the best toy kitchens you can find. The unisex color scheme of brown, maroon and tan is another great reason for you to consider this set.

Some reviews for this play kitchen set state the accessories don’t store well despite having plenty of space for everything. Other owners simply added some small baskets inside the cupboards to make storing all the food items easier.

Kidkraft Uptown Espresso Kitchen
If you like the large Ultimate Corner Play Kitchen offered by KidKraft above but prefer something smaller, then you are in luck! The Uptown Espresso Kitchen offers the same detail and quality, but in a more regular size.
It is designed for children between the ages of three and twelve years old and can easily keep three or four kids occupied for hours. It is made from the same sturdy wood as the other set and comes in a choice of two colors – the modern-looking color scheme of Espresso brown, or a lighter colored Natural wood.

- Stove-top and oven knobs that make clicking noises when turned

No accessories come with this toy kitchen, so you will need to purchase some to go with it. This set will take as much time to assemble as the larger corner model above, but it is also worth the effort for a kitchen set with this much detail. Fully read the easy-to-follow instructions before you get started to help save yourself some time.
Also, same as the larger corner model, the KidKraft Uptown has a side hinged oven door instead of bottom hinged.
ECR4Kids Birch Wooden Kitchen
As the name implies, this toy kitchen set is made from solid birch wood (not MDF) and with its unisex coloring is perfect for both girls and boys. While it doesn’t have all the details of the KidKraft kitchens, it’s a strong and well thought-out toy kitchen for hours of imaginative play.
This kitchen set is about three feet wide and close to three feet tall. The open design offers plenty of space for multiple children to play together. Even though the recommended age is 3-6 years the simple design may be suitable for smaller children too.
If you aren’t so keen on construction, you’ll be glad to know this play kitchen comes preassembled!

This is another set that does not come with any food or extra dishes. That, of course, means you will need to buy some ahead of time. Also note that the oven door opens to the side instead of opening down.
Being a preassembled unit and made from solid birch wood instead of MDF or plastic (one of the few I could find) the price is quite a bit more than the KidKraft Uptown.
However, the neutral color will go well in any room and the solid construction will ensure your children will have many years of enjoyment.
Small-Sized Kitchen Sets
Teamson Kids Little Chef Wooden Toy Play Kitchen
This wood toy kitchen is the smallest option on the list. It is about three feet tall, a foot deep and almost two feet wide which makes this set a great play kitchen for small spaces.
It is made with a Burlywood-colored MDF wood and painted in beautiful pastel colors. This set is designed for children three years old and over and it can easily handle two kids playing together.

Most customers have stated it takes longer to assemble this set than the thirty minutes listed in the manufacturer’s description. To speed things up, study the assembly instructions beforehand and use a smaller screwdriver to reach screws in tighter spaces.

Another great option from Step2 is their Lifestyle Fresh Accents kitchen set. It stands roughly three and a half feet tall, two feet wide and one foot deep. That makes it another terrific space-saving option to consider when choosing the best play kitchen for your kids.
Designed for children aged two to six years, it is large enough to accommodate two children playing at a time. This set is constructed from durable plastic that is meant to last for many years. It is also available in a rather pleasing color medley consisting of brown, maroon and tan. Definitely a great unisex option to consider if that is a factor high on your list.

Some customers reviews noted that the sticker decals for this particular set were a little difficult to put on smoothly. To counter this problem, flatten the stickers as much as possible and wipe the set down beforehand with a damp cloth to remove any dust from it.
