While researching crafts for 50 Bug Crafts for Kids I came across all the activities on Danielle’s Place of Crafts and Activities and decided to make some of these with my girls.

We were planning to make the Ant Spoon Craft, but the spoons we had were longer and thinner and really looked to be more like a dragonfly, so we decided to adapt the design.

To get you started you can find the directions to make the Ant Spoon Craft here (scroll down a bit). For the wings we used large popsicle sticks which we bought from a local craft store.

You could use paint for the wings but we colored them in using felt tip markers… we had a paint “incident” recently and wanted to play it safe.

A hot glue gun was used to glue the wings together and onto the body. We need to get some glitter glue to sparkle up the wings, but we love the way it turned out!

Next we moved on to this little guy – full instructions can be found on Danielle’s Place of Craft and Activities on the grasshopper page.

This was quite easy, but I don’t think the end result was nearly as good as the original!

Great fun all round and our girls are loving their new bugs.
